These are great blocks. And you can make them by the dozens with your AccuQuilt dies. Have fun.

  1. I love the simple outline stitch on batiks for a boys quilt. The frog (& a lizard) would be perfect for my son. What type of software is required to stitch out these cute outlines? Thanks P.S. Don’t have an embroidery machine as yet, but am considering buying one. I just don’t know a machine brand or model that could sew these simple types of outlines, without breaking the bank. Thanks

  2. The duck and the frog blocks are made from screen prints from an artist (Jody at Flytrap Studios) who primarily does them for t-shirts. She printed a huge batch of fabric for me for quilt blocks, but they are not stitched at all. I think you could get the same effect with hand embroidery or with an embroidery machine. The embroidery machine would take some real digitizing skill and I haven’t done any of that yet. The stitches on the applique are a basic machine applique stitch. They could be done with a small zigzag too. Sometimes I use a tiny zigzag stitch with a polyester (not nylon) monofilament thread. It looks almost like hand applique.
