2012 is in full swing

Today, I am back from a weekend with my Mom and things are in full swing. Went to exercise this morning for the first time in weeks. It felt good to visit with my exercise friends and to move my body. Also ran an errand for my daughter by going to Parks and Recreation to sign Ezri and Kes up for TaeKwonDo and swimming classes. It’s going to be a busy Spring. I hope I get to take them to a class or two and watch. Being a grandma is a lot of fun.

Here’s a photo from my weekend. I finally got the rick rack quilt bound and gave it to the recipient. It’s only a year late, but it looks like he’s enjoying it.

It was hard to leave my Mom’s house, but she is stable at this point, and I need to get things done here — like my taxes! She has wonderful caregivers, and I’m sure they will be much better at administering meds and tracking her health. It’s wonderful to have telephones now. I can remember in college when we called our parents once a week. Now, we are all on the phone all the time and it’s so easy to stay in touch and up to date.

My blog is about helping other quilters learn to use great tools in their quilting through what I can teach and through finding other bloggers who have good information. In addition, I am a mother and grandmother. Other hobbies include any other stitchery which makes me happy at the moment. I worked in clinical research for most of my career. I am now retired and enjoying every minute.

  1. Glad to hear you are back in gear and your mom is at least stable. Life is terminal for all of us. The old saying “You can’t get out alive.” However, I am planning on going on to a better place …….. alive!

Well, anyway, know it is good to be home for you and the rickrack quilt is darling. and so it the baby. John’s on going doctors and care appointments are keeping us busy. We are going to Williamsburg tomorrow for a consult with a rehab person on exercise for IPF patients. I have stuff piled on my sewing machine and maybe one of these days will get to it. He is also busy getting people to come and do the things he can’t like cut up some tree branches and split the wood he has piled up for the fireplace. It is driving him crazy not being able to do this stuff himself. Right now it is raining lightly here so chilly and cloudy.

  2. Yes, life was certainly different! My mother actually wrote me a letter every week, whether we spoke on the phone or not because long distance was so expensive we never talked for long. Exercise is good for body and mind. Good for you for quickly starting back in your regime.
