My New Treasure

A couple of weeks ago I made the trek to Greensboro to McKinney Sew & Vac to look at embroidery machines. I’ve been saving my pennies for a long time as I planned to get a six needle machine. I looked at all the machines and decided on a beautiful single needle machine, the Pfaff Creative Sensation. It was love at first sight and after two weeks of stitching with it, I believe it will be a long-term romance. This photo is a bit dark, but you get the idea. Notice my calendar in the background is still on March 🙂

Here are some blocks that I have been stitching with it. I have always wanted to make an alphabet quilt, so this is one that is on it’s way. The embroidery is a set from Designs by JuJu. I love her work.

In the meantime, I’ve been digitizing a set of monsters, something I’ve always wanted to do. These aren’t fancy, but they’re fun–especially with bright fabrics. It seems it takes me at least three days and sometimes more to get a single monster the way I want it. But these are definitely coming along.

My Mom is still here, and I am trying to take one day a week to go somewhere with her. Last week we went to a Sewing and Quilting Expo in Raleigh. I had soooo much fun looking at all the wonderful machines and patterns–and I think she did too.

  1. Congratulations! There will be no stopping your creativity now. Your monsters look great. I have a Viking Designer SE. It stitches beautifully, but I know it won’t last forever. My hesitation with Pfaff machines in the past is that they did not have drop in bobbins and I prefer that. I went to their website and from the picture, it looks as though your machine might have a drop in. Am I correct?

  2. Have you named your new machine? I have two Pfaff machines (7550, 7570). I bought the second one off of Ebay because I was afraid that the first one would wear out. I have had them for years and use one or the other every day. Your sewouts are beautiful. Can’t wait to see the quilts! I can tell that you are having fun. Your Mom is lucky to have you for a daughter. I am pretty sure that it goes both ways. It’s thundering here. So I am going to sign off so that my computer doesn’t get knocked out. Donna

  4. First, congratulations on your new machine. One of my machines is a Baby Lock Ellisimo and I truly love it so I know how special it is to have a machine with all the bells and whistles. I LOVE the alphabet quilt. I use a lot of JuJu’s designs and think they are great. Her items always stitch out so nice. As for your monsters, OH MY GOSH is all I can say! Marjorie they are absolutely FABULOUS. I’m not sure what I would use them on but if you put them up for sale, I am sure to buy them. They are just sooooo cute. You do such awesome digitizing. Have fun with your new machine and enjoy your time with your mom.

  5. We’d all been wondering what you’ve been up to, and now we see that you are just having too much fun!

  6. Love your new machine! And those monsters are adorable—-if a monster can be called adorable! I know you will enjoy the new machine!

  7. Marjorie. The new machine is amazing. I would love to be there and watch it work. Ha ha. I get mesmerized watching mine embroider. I agree with Belinda; those monsters are adorable! I love the way they come out of the block, breaking the boundaries of the background piece. That is what makes them so cool, I think.

  8. Don’t you just love a new toy? They are so much fun. It’s like Christmas in June. Love the monsters. They are so cute. I, too, want to do an alphabet quilt. Can’t wait to see it finished.

  9. Wow!! You’ve been busy!! I love the monsters and the alphabet!! So cute! Do let us know when you put them in the shop! Glad you like the new machine – that always makes sewing more fun!
