Quilting some UFO’s

This has been a summer of finishes, primarily quilting some tops that have been around for awhile. The blue top dates back to my pre-Accuquilt days. And I believe Norma pieced the sunflower quilt top for me. It is definitely a bright one.

At the quilt expo in Raleigh back in June, I tried all of the longarm quilting machines. My Nolting Hobby Quilter was made before any of the current machines that have all the bells and whistles. I fell in love with the HandiQuilter Avante and before I knew it, I had ordered one. It came a couple of weeks ago, and I have been quilting steadily ever since. I love this machine. I am also loving quilting some edge to edge designs that I created over the past few years. These two designs are available as digital downloads at IntelligentQuilting.com. Here are two finishes from last weekend:

  1. I don’t know much about longarm machines so I went over to look at the Avante. I also went to check out your designs. They are quite lovely and intricate. Can you load the designs you created on to the longarm for it to stitch out or do you guide the machine following the designs?

  2. Must be the year for ufos! I have been digging mine oit and just trying to get them to the top stage. I have made 6 tops from my ufos so far this year. Feels good to get them to that point! They were making me feel bad about even going into my sewing room because of the guilt! Love your finishes! I’ll be working on getting my tops quilted soon. Or maybe that’s next years project!

  3. Beautiful quilting Marjorie. I have the Avante also and love it. I have had it for about 2 years and have had no problems. It can be a little fussy with Glide thread. I have had some tension issues with that one but any other thread seems to stitch great in it. I’m assuming you have the ProStitcher also? I really like being able to load patterns I’ve purchased. There are so many out there to choose from. Happy quilting!

  4. The quilting is beautiful, Marjorie. Now you’re into designing quilting designs too — amazing!

  5. Your stitching is fantastic! I am glad to hear that you like the Avante. I, too, tried all of the long arms at the show in June and loved it! Unfortunately, I did not order one (maybe soon!) I do have a Voyager and was thrilled that your patterns can be read in PC Quilter!
